How We Began:
A Journey of Curiosity

Next Paws Innovations began with a simple question: why hasn’t animal healthcare kept pace with modern technology?

Driven by curiosity and a deep care for animals, we set out to explore how innovation, engineering, and hands-on problem-solving could improve veterinary tools, training, and outcomes. What started as an idea quickly became a mission, to reimagine animal care with solutions that are practical, accessible, and built for the future.

Today, Next Paws Innovations exists to support vets, students, and pet owners by developing smarter tools and systems that help animals live healthier, fuller lives.

At Next Paws Innovations, we’re building something that should have existed long ago, a reliable, ethical, and forward-thinking biological support system for companion animals.

Every day, across Australia, dogs and cats arrive at veterinary clinics in urgent need of care. In critical moments, access to the right biological resources, like blood, can mean the difference between life and loss. Yet today, that access is inconsistent, fragmented, and often dependent on chance.
We exist to change that.

Next Paws Innovations is establishing Victoria's first independent companion animal blood supply infrastructure, starting with a focused and ethical supply of canine and feline whole blood for veterinary use.

We work closely with veterinary clinics, donor programs, and animal welfare partners to ensure that every unit collected is:

  • Responsibly sourced

  • Carefully tested and handled

  • Delivered when it’s needed most

Our goal is simple: give veterinarians reliable access to life-saving resources, so they can focus on what matters — saving animals.

Meet The Founder

Hi, I'm Sydney,

I work nights at a veterinary emergency hospital in Melbourne. I've watched animals come in needing blood transfusions, and I've seen what happens when the right blood isn't there. I've watched owners wait while clinics tried to source supplies.  Not because the vets weren't good enough, but because the infrastructure wasn't there.

I started asking why the infrastructure didn't exist. Then I started building it.

I'm completing a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience at La Trobe University, graduating in November 2026. I have a background in biology and genetics, and a lifelong connection to animals that goes back further than I can remember. I've volunteered in animal welfare, competed in wrestling at state and national level, and personally established a girls' wrestling team at my high school — because if something doesn't exist and it should, you build it.

Next Paws Innovations exists because I couldn't stop thinking about the problem I kept seeing at work. It's not a passion project. It's infrastructure that Australian veterinary care genuinely needs — and I am building it.

Our Vision

Australia is home to more than 29 million companion animals. Every one of them deserves the same standard of emergency care, genetic preservation, and health research investment that human medicine has built over decades.

NPI starts with companion animals. But the same infrastructure model, the same governance framework, the same data architecture, the same collection and banking methodology, extends to wildlife and endangered species. The genetic material of animals that cannot speak for themselves is preserved for science that doesn't yet exist.

That's the long game. And we're building it now.
