What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Our Commitment

Next Paws Innovations Pty Ltd is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that access to information about animal health and our services should be barrier-free, and we are actively working to meet recognised web accessibility standards.

We aim for our website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which are the standards referenced in Australia's Digital Accessibility guidelines and broadly adopted internationally.

  • Please note: nextpawsinnovations.com is currently under active development. We are in the process of building and refining the site, and we acknowledge that not all pages or features may yet meet full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.

  • Known areas we are working to address include:

  • Image alternative text — ensuring all images have meaningful, descriptive alt text

  • Colour contrast — reviewing all text and background colour combinations to meet minimum contrast ratios

  • Keyboard navigation — confirming all interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard alone

  • Form labelling — ensuring all form fields have explicit, programmatically associated labels

  • Link text clarity — replacing generic link text (e.g. 'click here') with descriptive alternatives

  • Focus indicators — ensuring visible focus styles are present for keyboard users

  • Page titles — updating placeholder page titles to accurately reflect content

  • Contact information — replacing placeholder details with current, accurate information

Technical Approach

Our website is built using Wix Studio. We work within the accessibility features provided by the Wix platform and supplement these with our own content practices.

We test our site using a combination of:

  • Automated accessibility checkers

  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing

  • Screen reader spot-checking (NVDA and VoiceOver)

  • Colour contrast analysis tools

Conformance Standard

Target standard: WCAG 2.1 Level AA

We reference the following guidelines:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)

  • Australian Government Digital Service Standard — Criterion 9: Make it accessible

  • Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) — which may apply to website accessibility in Australia

As an organisation committed to science, community, and transparency, we treat accessibility not as a compliance checkbox but as a genuine expression of our values.
